Personal Project: Brazil-Scotland Pattern Fusion
I created this pattern series to explore the dynamic intersection of two rich visual cultures that are very dear to me: Brazil, where I came from, and Scotland my new home.
Drawing inspiration from the curves and mosaic tiles of Copacabana and Ipanema, and juxtaposing them with the structure of Scottish tartans, this project is a graphic dialogue between fluid geometry and structured pattern.
The goal was to not only recreate classical design but also to experiment with blending them — weaving Brazilian vibrancy and Scottish linear form into applied graphics. I tested these patterns across mockups for identity graphics, textiles, stationery, and print design. The results highlight texture, rhythm, and contrast, offering design assets that are visually striking and culturally resonant.
This is a personal exploration, but its value is professional: it sharpens my pattern design skills, expands my style portfolio, and reinforces my creative versatility. All of them very important traits for brand identity, print/textile design, and experiential graphics projects.
Let's work together!
This project shows how patterns can tell stories across cultures. If you’re looking to bring texture, rhythm, and cultural depth into your brand or event design, let’s connect and create something memorable together.
